We can handle a walking boot. I was going to die it they said he needed a cast right before our beach vacation!! I did mention that we were going to the beach to the doctor. He said that it was hard to tell by the x-ray the extent of the damage caused to his foot but that he didn't see anything too major. He could tell that Austin has some sort of injury in his 3rd and 4th toe area. It's just past where the toes connect to the foot. So he said Austin needs to wear this boot for the next 2 weeks. If he's still limping after that then we need to come back for some more x-rays.
The best part of the whole office experience is when the nurse held up 10 fingers and asked Austin to rate his pain. 10 fingers means the most pain. Austin gave her a very blank stare. She said ok, Austin if I take away five fingers, that's less pain. Does it hurt that bad? Again Austin gives a blank stare. Then she holds up her fingers again and asks if this is how bad it hurts. Austin finally said, "my fingers don't hurt". I could hardly contain my laughter! She tried to begin her explaining again to him and I had to stop her and tell her that he wasn't getting it. So we left the office with a boot.
We got home and he wasn't quite sure...
But within an hour he was playing basketball. He can't be contained!
So far it hasn't stopped him from running or playing basketball! He's a tough little guy!
