65th Anniversary Reception

We had a wonderful weekend with my family. It was nice that we ALL were together to celebrate. 65 years is quite the accomplishment-especially as I was trying to fall asleep last night and thought how Brian and I haven't even been married 65 months yet! We have many more years to look forward too!

Yes is a RARE picture of Brian and I together!

Check out the beautiful Courthouse in the background!!

The Grandkids made a book for Grandma and Grandpa. We used Mixbook and it was a great experience. We could all login and work on the book. It was a collaberative effort instead of only 1 person creating the entire book. They loved it-we even each wrote them a little letter inside!

After the reception we headed back to Grandpa and Grandma's for cake. The kids had a blast in the basement playing. They still have the oldie but goodie games that I used to play. Austin really loved this Hungry Hippo game!

3 Boys...3 Cousins all in the age range of 2 1/2 to 4...this is what boys do...they wrestle!

Austin let Papa read him his bedtime story.
He was so worn out. He didn't put up much of a struggle for going to bed.

It was too cold and I was too lazy to really go outside and dig for that good shot...so here you go!

PHOTO(S)-A-DAY: DAY 5

Oh the things they say...

Austin cracked me up this morning. I brought his basketball hoop back upstairs for him to play. We've been shooting hoops all morning. I'm trying to teach him that he doesn't have to tackle after shooting. I'm not sure where he got this from but he either tackles or falls over. So I took a break and was folding some blankets and he comes and says, 'Mommy, I Brubin'. I had no idea what he was talking about. He said, 'Mommy come on lets shoot, I Brubin and you Osiris'. Oh my...guess he's now Rubin while playing basketball. You have to be ISU fans I guess to 'get it'!

Sorry 'bout that!

So Austin likes to announce when he toots now. We've been trying to teach him to just say excuse me. So the other day I was cleaning the kitchen and Austin said, 'I tooted Mommy, sorry 'bout that, sorry 'bout that. Trying not to laugh I said, then excuse you Austin. The things they come up with! He's into repeating the 'sorry 'bout that' 2 times too.

He's also getting really good at saying 'bless you' if he hears someone sneeze.

PHOTO(S)-A-DAY: DAY 4

I just had to post this one. He's into acting like a clown lately! Man on a mission!

Swim Lessons

We started Austin's swim lessons tonight. I had to get in with him. We weren't sure what to expect but think this is a good place for us to be. We want him to get comfortable with the water before Florida!

PHOTO(S)-A-DAY: DAY 3

A little sleepy due to it's about 40 minutes PAST naptime.

So maybe it's not the best idea to let your 2 1/2 year old jump on the bed minutes before nap time.

No Paci?

Austin has only had his paci at bedtime for a long time now. Yesterday we washed his paci because it was very smelly. When I got it out of the dishwasher it was still stinky. I told Austin I thought we should throw it away because it was yucky. It even looked like it had mold growing inside it. He wrinkled his nose too and said 'yep, Mommy it yucky, I throw it away'. I told him that if he threw it away he would have only 1 left and would have to use that one. (It's never been his favorite one.) He said, 'I throw that one away too?'. Brian and I got big eyes as we looked at one another. I was thinking in my head-maybe he's ready to get rid of his paci-this could be a good thing. So he took me by my finger back to his bedroom and got his last paci. He came to the living room and started watching TV. I said Austin you have to take the paci back to your room or throw it in the trash. He said, 'I throw it away, Mommy'. I said then no more paci's for Austin? You're a big boy, right? So as he tossed the last paci in the trash and headed back for the living room I quickly dug it out and kept it 'just in case'. Brian and I couldn't believe it. So at bedtime we did our nightly routine of Brian and I both tucking him in. He asked for his paci and I reminded him that he threw it away. He cried for about 5 seconds, we said our prayers and quiet he was for the rest of the night!! WOW-that was easy. I still have it just in case though!

(Nap time the next day went the same. A few whimpers and he was fast asleep!)

PHOTO(S)-A-DAY: DAY 1

I've decided to 'attempt' to do a photo-a-day for the entire month of February. Why February?? It's the shortest month of the year and because it's too cold to play outside yet. So I plan to make Austin my subject (willing or not) for the entire month. Day 1 went very well. He's quite the poser, sometimes. He likes to do it his way these days! I also plan to step outside my box with editing and try different colorings. I like the bright, true to color, crisp clean photos so I'm going to try some off-colors for fun.
Enjoy!

Cleaning

What else is there to do but clean when it's snowing outside!  Austin is such a good helper.  I hope this continues!

Sit-Off

Austin doesn't want Daddy to go back to work after lunch so he runs and sits in front of the door. Brian doesn't want to break Austin's heart so tries to make me move him.

Hockey

We went to a hockey game with some friends tonight. It was a new experience. After we convinced Austin that yelling 'score a basket' wasn't quite right for hockey he changed his cheering! All the boys had a lot of fun! I think the best part was between periods. There was a lot to watch so was a little bit more entertaining then the actual game!

Ohhh my....
